After a (thankfully!) uneventful 3-day cruise down
the coast from Newport, Oregon we safely arrived in sunny San Francisco,
California! The much anticipated "sail" into the historic bay met our
expectations as we were welcomed by a bank of pea-soup
thick fog which seemed to obscure almost all from view. As
despair started to set-in, the well-known San Francisco fog began
to part at the precise moment we passed under the famous Golden Gate Bridge
(whohoo!) allowing us to see more than merely the foot of the
reddish-orange bridge as rays of sun crept through and more and
more of the bay and downtown area became visible.....Did we nail the timing on
that one or what!?! We quickly dropped the hook (a.k.a. anchored) in the
bay right in front of Spinnakers Restaurant in quaint, but super expensive
(yikes!) Sausalito, and settled down to catch up on some much needed rest
after the long stretch of 4 hours-on/4 hours-off wheel watches. Sweet dreams as
we look forward to exploring the famous city by the bay....
