Left Iona this morning (sure to return...) and motor sailed in glorious,
warm sunshine to Colonsay, where the Hotel is in the Good Food Guide... Rounding
the north end of the island, we found some breeze and had a splendid reach down
to anchor in the small harbour at Scalasaig. A light lunch with a
palatable local beer ensued, which delivered in turn a short powernap back
onboard. That meant that we nearly missed the tide through the Gulf
Corryvreckan – but we sneaked through on the last of the eastbound flow in a
flat calm and placid stretch of water as the blue skies gradually gave way to
grey and the next weather system closes in. We motored all the way up
Shuna Sound into Seil Sound and finally picked up a buoy off Balvicar – slate
country to match the greying skies. |
