We had very light winds and not coming from the
favorable angle, so to get to Whangarei this week-end, we have to motor,
still hoping to get the westerly breeze and enjoy sailing again. 167nm
to Whangarei (Cape Brett, distance 125 nm)
The batteries and all systems on board are nicely
charged up.
It is a pleasure to have our engine running so
smoothly again. For those who followed our last
couple of ocean passages, we solved the problem of water in the fuel! Our tank
breathing holes took the sea water in, when green water poured over the decks on
the starboard side. For the time being a plastic take-away box is the
perfect size over the holes, with just a tiny hole at the bottom to let air
through. Anyway on this passage we are enjoying very easy sea
conditions...motoring is the price we have to pay.
(Time flies we are well into day 7 now, will still be at
sea for the next update)
