All day yesterday we sailed gently under the cruising
chute, which was poled out, so that it was more like a spinnaker (SOG 3-4
knots). At 1 am we stowed it away and motored again through the calm
waters gazing into the star filled night sky. Venus is stunningly
bright.
Since 8 am this morning we are sailing again under
goosed-winged mainsail and genoa (SOG 5-6 knots), the sea is calm and the sun is
very, very hot.
7 days at sea and 330 miles to go until we reach the
Vava'u group of Tonga.
We covered 956 miles, although we sailed much
more, meandering up and down our rum line.
The "Drifters" Radio-Net is going very well and we will
probably see quite a few familiar faces in Tonga.
