We are anchored in the heart of Brisbane and love it here.

Clearing into Australia was very easy but it took us all day to wind through the channels in Moreton Bay until we reached the river entrance at nightfall, dodging ships, pilot-boats and fishing boats. By the time we reached the Quarantine dock at Rivergate Marina it was 21.00 hours local time. We were relieved our engine took us all the way safely, even tough coughing up white smoke behind us. Customs still came on board to welcome us and clear us in. We spend the night at the Quarantine dock and went through Biosecurity at 07.30 next morning. Simon, the officer, was very thorough, helpful and friendly but after he left, our boat was pretty much up-side-down. So we spend until lunchtime to get everything back together and were able to fill up the water tanks, wash the salt off the topsides and think about our next move.

We helped sailing cat “Elfrun” to dock onto Quarantine but had to keep away as they needed to clear in first. Looking forward to catching up properly with Atmo and Petra since we parted in Noumea and celebrate our safe arrival, before they head South. We are now anchored close to each other but all very busy getting organised with internet, Australian phone, fresh food etc.

Today Peter (Paul’s big brother) and wife Jenny came aboard and what a happy reunion.
More visits from nephews Adrian and Steward with partners Luby and Sandra tomorrow and still other get together with Phil and Kristina to look forward to.
Fireworks down river as we write, what a vibrant welcome!
