VELAS on the Island of Sao Jorge

We had a tasty evening meal, a good bottle of Borba (red Portuguese wine) walked along the festive stalls of the town and listened to regional music on a huge stage. Lucky we managed to celebrate the last day of the week long Cultural Festival!

We intended to stay longer here but the swell in the marina was unbearable. We slept badly and seeing Kahia heavily jarred on the ropes, we felt it safer to be out at sea with wind and waves. So we made for a better shelter in Horta on Failal at 15.30 on the 8^th July.
