After 40 hours
running before gale force winds Force 7 and 8 with huge seas, Kahia only partial
broached once, righting herself perfectly before the next waves and never pooped
(=water over the stern). After the initial tension,
we got used to the motion, didn’t get seasick and cooked as usual. We slept
in full gear and lifejackets in the saloon, when off watch. Funny how one gets
used to things and I kept reading Ellen MacArthur’s book ”Taking on
the World” a great way to keep inspired during my watches. Paul gets his
inspiration in reading for a second time Joshua Slogan “Sailing alone
around the World” . Both of us being
grateful to sharing this adventure together, being a fantastic team and seeing
our dream come true. The wind has
dropped to Force 3 to 4, which means our boat-speed is slower and the wave
motion gentler. Now we find ourselves
relaxing again, running the engine to charge batteries, make fresh water, tidy
up and shower. |
