Just to confirm, we have now landed safely in Hiva Oa, part of the Marquesa Archipelago in French Polynesia.
We completed the journey of 3030 miles in 16 days, 15.5 hours - a great result and even better we crossed the line 7th in the fleet. Unfortunately as we arrived at midnight, we had problems anchoring in the small bay and decided to anchor off until first light. We were fully anchored and set up by 7am this morning. First job is to clean off some of the salt which has been baked on over the last two and a half weeks and then we are off exploring. We are treating ourselves to dinner ashore tonight in the local hotel, as far as we can see from the map etc, there are only 3 restaurants to choose from on the whole island for dinner!
First impressions? The bay is fabulous, very lush and green and it seems a world away from anywhere else we have been before, the people we have met so far have been incredibly helpful so we are looking forward to a few days winding down, sorting ourselves and the boat out, and doing some exploring as well.
More to follow soon.......

It was absolutely pouring with rain while we anchoring the boat, and this fabulous rainbow appeared over the anchorage

The boys doing what they like best - faffing about in the dinghy (and sorting out and setting the stern anchor as well!)
