For our last few nights in St Martin, we decided to head for Grand Case, three miles along the coast.  Tuesday night here is party night, they have stalls and bands lining the main street, and all the shops, bars and restaurants are open - the town was heaving with a great atmosphere.  We wandered through the stalls looking at all the menus on the way trying to decide where to eat - this was a big problem.  Grand Case is famous for it's restaurants and deciding on 1 was always going to be tricky, eventually we narrowed it down to a choice of three and then decided we ought to stay to the end of the week to try the others as well.
As part of the party night, there was a parade, unfortunately we did not know about this and missed it as we had a table inside the restaurant.  At one point a carnival dancer came through the restaurant - having seen her, I think John was a little disappointed he hadn't seen the rest!!

 Party night in Grand Case

Grand Case is like the very French seaside resorts in France, and very similar in a lot of way to Les Saintes in Guadeloupe
- well worth a visit, but only later in the day.  When we visited during our road trip round the island, everything was closed up, when we stayed here we realised that most shops don't actually open until about 4pm at the earliest!

John has long been looking for the perfect outfit for sitting on deck in the evening - when we met Paul and Debra in Culebra, Paul swore that a sarong was the way forward.  He had been shown how to tie the sarong securely by a friend of his in the SAS, so they must be quite manly, mustn't they? Anyway see for yourself.......

 A fine specimen!!!

We are leaving Grand Case on Friday and heading a bit further south towards St Kitts, where we are picking up Frankie and Georgia who are joining us for a week.
