Today, after a lie in, we had a picnic lunch at the beach. We needed a bit of R'n'R after a late night last night drinking and dancing, and some of us had a few too many Hurricane David cocktails - on the pre-text of helping us sleep through the rolling of course!

and the after shots its a lot harder than it looks but at least I landed more gracefully!!!!

After lunch we went on a beach and trail horse ride around the north of the island, which involves a swim in the sea with the horses. After having gorgeous weather yesterday, and one of the warmest nights for ages, we thought the weather had eventually changed, but we got an absolute soaking out riding and the horses decided that they weren't going in the sea today at all, and could not be persuaded, so we splashed around in the surf instead. As we came into a field during the ride we saw loads of tortoises, they have been brought here from Venezuela, and seem to like the climate - they are all over and are not at all shy, and will even pose for a photo. Also when we were at the beach we saw a large flock of pelican's which took flight as we splashed around. The riding was fairly sedate but, after at least a year break for me and about a 5 years break for John, we will no doubt pay for it tomorrow with very stiff legs!

The tortoises are all round the islands - we stopped on our tour yesterday to take this photo of one in the road.
