We spent two very relaxing days anchored here just off the island. It is a small nature reserve with a camp site & shop and that's about it apart from the hordes of tourists who pile in every day on boat trips. There are decent walks all over the island - all of which seem to end at a lighthouse. Needless to say we went to two and decided against the rest - seen one view of the sea seen 'em all! Despite the heat on land it was much chillier on the boat especially in the afternoon as the wind really picked up and at night it got to about force 5 which is just enough to none-too gently rock you to sleep. We had fabulous BBQ's prepared by our intrepid chef John who made sure that all the food ended up on the plates and not rolling about the decks or worse still going overboard to feed the fishes.
We had sardines in a restaurant a couple of days ago and realised that they don't gut them here before they cook them so we did ours the Spanish way and cooked them whole and lived to tell the tale - you do need to make sure you get rid of the nasty bits and don't eat them though as they have a slightly unpleasant liverish taste & texture. We had managed with our excellent command of the local lingo to order our sea bass gutted and cleaned!
