A famous neighbour in Fajardo

Well we are now back in the sun - yippee! It was a real shock being home again in winter, we haven't done that in 2 years and had forgotten just how cold winter is. Hopefully, with our new plans for going through Panama next January, we won't need to experience that again anytime soon!
On arriving back in Fajardo, we were met by Pat & Stuart from Brizo, who treated us to a great welcome home breakfast on Wednesday before they left to head south.
Just to give an update on our plans, we have decided to sail back to Antigua over the next 3.5 months and Seaduced will then be hauled out at the end of May and left in Antigua until the end of October. We will be basing ourselves in Wrea Green over the summer with a few trips here and there. We also have a graduation, Alex, John's son graduates from Exeter University this summer, and a wedding, my sister's, so we have a few things planned already.
Once we return to Antigua it will be all hands on deck as usual to get the boat ready to leave the dock, but this time we are taking the plunge and going through the Panama Canal, with the World ARC on our way to Australia. We will transit the canal in January and arrive in Mackay, on the east coast of Australia at the end of July. It will be an amazing adventure, we have been reading the itinerary and getting very excited about the whole trip.
The places we will be visiting are;
San Blas Islands,
Colon, Panama,
Las Perlas Islands,
Galápagos Islands,
Marquesas,
Tahiti,
Bora Bora,
Tonga,
Fiji,
Vanuatu,
and finally, Mackay, Australia! Phew!
So apart from that, what's new? Well, we are still in the marina, we had a problem with our fridge before we came back to the UK and, although we brought some parts out, it is still not working properly and has a habit of just switching itself off and defrosting, not great in this heat. We called the guys out again today, typically it is a holiday today, but fortunately, they are still working. They now think we are short of gas in the compressors, they have left to get the gas and we will see if that works. It is likely, looking at the weather this week, that we will be here until Thursday, as there is a bit of a blow coming through. Also, we want the fridge properly fixed so we don't have to come back again. This will be the last chance to have anything done with it before Antigua as we hope to be on anchor until then and avoid any further marina stops - fingers crossed!
While we have been here, we went to San Juan on Friday and stayed in El Convento, a fab city centre hotel, for a late Valentines Day treat, which was lovely.
Oh, famous neighbours - the boat below is the 'star' of the new Pirates of The Caribbean (5) film. They are filming near here already and in some of the islands as well.
