Day three plus a few hours - we arrived at 2pm, and we are in the Harbour Club Marina in Nassau. We had two awful nights followed by a much calmer day today. The clouds have cleared to leave a gorgeous day, blue skies, turquoise seas and flying fish, we must be in the Caribbean!
The big issue now is the sail - again! We have to haul the sail out - no mean feat when the foot of the sail is not attached to anything, remove the battens and drop and pack the sail. Where to start? Well we got up early Sunday morning and as it was calm deiced to make a start, the problem is once you start this job you can't stop as the sail won't furl in again easily with no battens in - it tends to fold and jam, so no pressure then. John and I started the process and realised it was going to be very tricky with just the 2 of us and so were hugely grateful for the assistance of 3 guys on the boat next door who helped us enormously to haul the sail out, largely using brute strength to pull it out evenly top to bottom, and get it down. Re-hoisiting will hopefully be a little simpler!
The sail goes to be repaired tomorrow, and hopefully we will get it back the same day, so we can leave either Monday night or early Tuesday morning - will keep you posted!
In the meantime, whilst we are here in Nassau, we might as well make the best of it and have a look round. The big hotel here is the Atlantis, a huge luxury resort, so we will go over and have a look round and see what it is all about. Also the town itself might be worth a bit of an explore.....
