Leaving our mark in Las Palmas

Today we are all feeling a little jaded after the fancy dress party last night - we had thought that we would leave about 10ish and go for a late dinner, but we decided it was a far better idea to start drinking rum & coke and stay until 2.30am - bad idea! Luckily we had an easy start tp the day as we had a safety demonstration by the local air sea rescue helicopter and the lifeboat which meant that there was no need to think too hard about anything.
It is a bit of an ARC tradition to paint a mural on the quay wall here in Gran Canaria as a momento of your stay, prior to setting off across the pond. As the crew member with the most artistic talent, this job was allocated to Tony. After lunch we left him on the wall doing his arty bit. About an hour later we got a call from him to say that the design was progressing well but unfortunately as the tide was going out, and the jetty he was standing on was getting ever lower, it was getting a little harder to reach - how we all laughed!
