Today we passed the 3000 mile mark, we now have less than 100 miles to go until we reach St Lucia. We have had champagne for lunch at each 1000 mile mark but this time decided that we would do something a bit different and celebrate with a swim in the Atlantic. The water looked beautiful and clean and incredibly inviting. As we were motoring, we put the engine in neutral and started to get sorted with a safety line for the back of the boat. Lance, having drunk champagne and being a bit braver (or dafter) than the rest of just jumped straight in even though the safety line wasn't quite attached at this stage. The current was quite strong and he had to swim hard to reach it, and was very glad to get hold of it. We then realised why he was having such a hard swim - we had left the sail up and were still doing about 2 miles an hour!!! After quickly dropping the sail we managed to get Lance and Doug back on board they were both exhausted! John, Tony and I then followed, myself only after a lot of persuasion!

Tony thought the water was a little cool!

I was torn between hanging onto the rope and preserving my modesty when my top slipped as I jumped in!
