Just a bit of a update as to where things are up to here, although you are probably watching the news the same as we have been doing all day.  Here in the hotel there is little else to do and we are getting a bit bored and frustrated with being here, hopefully, looking at the forecast, tomorrow should be our last day.
We have had a bit of report from the marina, there is one person, employed by the State of New Jersey, who has to stay whatever the weather, and we heard from him, via the dock master, Michele that Seaduced was sitting pretty this morning although the water had breached the sides of the marina at high water this morning.  This was before the storm hit, I am writing this at 7pm, and the weather is now appalling, the wind is howling about 60+ knots and there is already serious flooding in a lot of areas nearby.
The high tides tonight and tomorrow morning, which will be during the worst of the storm, will be crucial, hopefully the water surge will not be enough to release the pontoons from the piles securing them.
New Jersey has huge areas of mandatory evacuation, and a curfew has been put in place, making it illegal to be out at all. The Mayor was on TV earlier this evening saying that anyone who hasn't left can not leave, and must stay inside, they have also been told that the emergency services will not go out to anyone between now and first light tomorrow, basically anyone who ignored the warnings to leave is on their own.
In central NYC this afternoon, drama was caused by a crane slipping off the top of a nearly built luxury condominium block, this is now hanging off the side of the building, threatening near by buildings.  Incidentally, the penthouse of the block was recently sold for $90million - imagine that!!!
The hotel seems fine at the moment anyway, they do have a generator to keep the beer cooled, we checked that last night, although the TV has flashed off and on again a couple of times during the day, lots of people have no power at all, so no idea how long ours will last, fingers crossed!
The good news is that due to amount is spare time I have had on my hands, I have managed to finish knitting John's new scarf, so at least he will be warm when we head back to the boat!!
