As of this morning, 1st December we have found the mythical, trade winds - hurray! Also we have opened the first door on the Seaduced advent calendar - actually I opened it (ladies first naturally) and scoffed the chocolate Christmas tree with my breakfast porridge!
As well as reaching the trades we are also now experiencing the odd squall which is a very heavy rain shower, accompanied by strong winds. That said these seem to be infrequent and we are managing to dodge round a few!
After a lengthy discussion this morning we managed to set up the twistle rig which allows us to fly both headsails together, one on each side and we are now sailing well and just waiting for the slightly stronger winds that we have been promised! In the last few days we have been treated to Atlantic Blue dolphins swimming round the bow of the boat and also pilot whales nearby. There is also a surprising amount of bird life as well - the most often seen is the shearwater who come very close to the boat.

The only problem we now have is that as we are sailing downwind, the boat has a habit of rolling from side to side constantly, - staying in bed and sleeping may be a little difficult and having a shower is also challenging to say the least - that said we are all enjoying the experience. The weather has been largely warm and sunny today.
It is amazing how quickly and easily the days pass, and how difficult it is to remember what you did yesterday, it is a good job the watch rota sheet tells us what day it is or we would be absolutely clueless!
