We left Les Saintes on Saturday morning after having spent a wonderful two weeks relaxing, chilling out and generally psyching ourselves up for the return to Antigua. The first part of the trip was the 34 miles up the east coast of Guadeloupe, to Deshaies. This just about splits the journey in half, we have another 44 miles to do tomorrow. The first part of the sail was lovey, with the mainsail and genoa up we flew across the gap between Les Saintes and Guadeloupe, even getting over 9 knots at times! This is despite the fact we were sitting in the cockpit drinking tea and putting the finishing touches to yet another list of jobs to be done over the summer! Once we got into the shelter of Guadeloupe though, the wind died as expected and we had to switch the engine on for the rest of the day.
After a relaxing afternoon sunbathing, and chilling out in Deshaies, we completed the journey to Antigua on Sunday afternoon and are now on anchor in Falmouth Harbour sorting the boat out for hauling and summer storage!
Antigua is now very quiet, most of the bars, shops and restaurants have closed up for the summer season, it is becoming a bit of a ghost town, that said we are managing to get all the work we need done on the boat underway now.
We are trying to divide our time between working and chilling out, working in the morning and relaxing in the afternoon, we may even get a bit of beach time - we don't want to come home without a suntan!
This afternoon we went to Devils Bridge, a local tourist attraction, which was lovely, sitting on the rocks hearing the sea pounding below - fabulous!
