A bit more exploring

This morning our first job was again customs clearance.  We landed the dinghy at the ferry dock and I went ashore to do the necessary.  Next thing I see a large woman in uniform, the worst kind, coming towards me with a certain amount of purpose in her stride.  I explained my situation, that I needed to clear out and was told that I could not get off the dinghy on the dock without special permission, and that I had to go back and get in the dinghy and leave - if I wanted I could land on the beach next to the dock, just not on the dock itself.  Who I needed permission from I never found out - it is not good practice to get on the wrong side of any female in a uniform with epaulettes - the power goes straight to their heads and gives them a huge chip on their shoulder.  So we left the dinghy at the other dock and went by car on our way out.  When we arrived who was on guard duty at the entrance? You guessed right, and she made sure only one of went through, I had to wait outside!! If that's what makes them happy...
After seeing the northern side of the island yesterday, we took the road south today, it was slightly confusing at first as we thought we should have the sea on our right and it was on our left, it wasn't until we got further along the road that we realised that as the island is so narrow, we had the sea on both sides - panic over!
We stopped off at a few gorgeous resorts and spent some time on the various beaches and bays.  Some of the roads were less travelled than others and at one stage, when we got out to go to look over the top of the hill John even put a rock behind the wheels of the car to stop it rolling away - although they can't chase us for money it would have been a long walk back and more than slightly inconvenient!
We had decided to give ourselves 2 days off while we are here as it is only a short stay, so we headed for another afternoon on the beach.  This time in Rendezvous Bay, on the south of the island.  After a great beach BBQ lunch of chicken, salad and some local bread called johnny cakes we spent the afternoon snoozing in the sun before heading back to plan our trip to the British Virgin Islands tomorrow.  We have an early start and are planning to leave at 5.30am, so we needed to get the boat all sorted inside and out so we can stay in bed as long as possible in the morning.  It is about 80 miles, but we should be there late afternoon, early evening all being well. Anguilla is fabulous and somewhere we would both have liked to spend more time but the weather won't allow it at the moment, but we do have to come back this way, so maybe a quick stop over?
