the odd cloud in what is one of the clearest nights we have seen in a long
time. The surf is pounding in from the south and you can hear the constant
rumbling of the surf in the background. Then the banging of the workers back
on shore who are preparing some new pylons for the marina we are in these
are steel, I think they will take a shot at putting them in the morning low
ebb tide.
It was a dry day, and warm but very pleasant, many of the cruisers are
returning and getting ready to leave in the next month. So the discussion
around happy hour was new ports places to go, where the rain will be and
stop, which are the rolly anchorages. We use Google Earth to zoom in and see
along with the charts, and discussion with people. You get a sense of
excitement and energy and want to move on, but as Denny said today over a
beer "the summer has gone fast" and true enough with many people realizing
that they plans to do things and they have a month left.
We got a new tarp today which we use to redo the top of our mosquito net and
it will also act as a rain and sun protection to our vinyl which we have on
the cockpit.
Tomorrow I have to fix a couple of the computers for other cruisers and work
on the aft leaks where we had a discussion with our sister boat in the
Marshal Islands who has seen the same issue and he has solved it, nice to
see I was on the correct track with redoing the ceils, but need to look
more.
One of the things I enjoy a lot like we did in winter at Catalina Island is
family movie night, usually once a week, but every so ofeten w will watch a
couple of nights. Tracy and I enjoy the exploring series like Micheal Palin
which take a couple of nights the boys have their own movie and also watch
ours, but it is the family all sitting down stairs and being a unit (I have
no doubt that it will be a fond memory through life as the boys grow older).
Water is so still tonight with the river current gliding past with no sound
compared with the surf, the lights of the little settlements flicking in the
amongst the mangroves of the estuary, and the stars pearling through down on
us.
Yes it's nice to be here!!!
