Last Day in Mazatlan we hope and Parts arrive

Tracy woke stronger this morning, and decided to do a
supplies run by her self to Mega, she also wanted to visit a Spanish book store
looking for Spanish books for the boys. So the boys and I spent the morning at
the park (where they had Mexican friends playing mini golf with them). And then
swimming. My parts arrived today, so one thing is out of the way, the
wind is still up, but is scheduled to drop tonight, we are planning to leave at
about 5 pm tomorrow, and do an overnight run, if the seas and wind allow,
otherwise the plans will change. The afternoon was spent with some cruisers next door to us,
just finding out all the good places, they have been sailing this coast for 6
years, so recommended many good places and places to avoid. This is apart of
this life I enjoy we are linked in a common thread of boating and exploring,
and been scheduled by the weather, so we discussed locations, ports, other
boats, stories, and of course weather. So you gain good knowledge and build up another
plan changing your last one, and this next one will last until you sit and
listen again, but all the time you refining the plan. In many ways the
planning, discussing and preparing is as much the fun of the cruise as the
cruise it’s self, (so don’t stop dreaming). We then decided to hit the Old Town of Mazatlan again this
is 5th time, and we explored the markets again, and then went down different streets,
and alleys discovering new galleries, and shops and characters, wandering at no
pace. We saw and dropped into live pottery classes, and then through the
windows others were doing music classes this fascinated the boys, reading the
books on Mazatlan this culture center in the heart of Old Town was developed 10
years ago and has transformed the area bringing life to the area. The boys
asking questions all the way, and then ending up our favorite square for
dinner. Since it was not a weekend it was quieter which gave it a different
atmosphere again, but still the street eating, and lights and live music allows
you to soak in the culture and people around, Yes this will be my memory of
Mazatlan. We have enjoyed the time here and it has allowed us to complete the
jobs on the boat and really spend 4 to 5 days boat job free and out exploring
the hills and town, again we stayed long enough to get to know and be comfortable
with the place, but now it is time to move on (we hope depends on the wind!!).
But like all leaving you have a sense of emptiness as you leave something you
like and are comfortable with and head off into unknown, but it has been like
that for my while travelling life going back to backpacking(20+ years ago). It
is no wonder we have met so many people here and in this area who have just
said we like it here and it is easy cruising and close enough to go home that
we will stop here and just cruise this area, there is a lot to be said for this,
I can see that been us when we arrive in Australia. Stay tuned next update should be underway. |
