trips etc. This allowed us to relax into the island pace of life, doing odd
jobs, kids education. Tracy went diving off the coast early afternoon, the
visibility is superb here at 40m + and surprisingly she found quite a lot of
sea life, even though this is the South Pacific the water is cool and it is
volcanic not coral. She found a Moai Statue under the water settled up right
on the bottom. She enjoyed getting into the water doing a dive, she was an
instructor who had come here with Jacque Cousto(not sure of the spelling)
some 15 / 20 years ago and never left.
Wandering down town, we found the horse riders coming in an tying up at the
café's and stores to collect their daily things, all the stores were open,
and we played at the park with the locals again.
Tracy and I are enjoying the Island, we we have come to realize that while
we like deserted islands and time to ourselves as we did in the Sea of
Cortez, we enjoy much more Islands and coastal communities where you come
apart of a small community, this why we liked each year at Catalina Island
especially Christmas because we slotted right into the way of life. Here is
the same feeling, there are many activities in term of visiting to do, as
well as just as many normal daily activities like Park, Soccer, diving bike
riding that we slide into. This is another revelation to us, and how we will
settle into the cruising lifestyle long term, by finding communities where
we can become part of, we found a few on the Mexican coast but not quite the
same, Malaysia we also found it on the islands, as well as Thailand.
Last night we went out to a traditional dinner/ dance for the Polynesian,
with the food been cooked in a buried pit of rocks with chicken, fish, and
veggies. We also watched the traditional dancing here on Rapa Tui and then
from the distance islands, the boys enjoyed this.
Today we out around the island again with a 4 x 4 car.
