apartment (translation toys everywhere!!!), and we comfortable. So another
clear day, sun shining we went out for coffee, and headed to a downtown old
sector called San Telmo, with its cobble streets lots of antique shops, and
today Sunday the crowds are out in the main square for the weekly antique
market, which is as disorganized as most antique stores. But full of
character, after a walk around Alex and I decided to sit down at a street
café on the square on the cobble stones and have "Earl Grey" tea and hot
chocolate while just observing the people. (I have always loved finding a
spot where there is packed in character, and just absorb it in). We then
headed out of town 30 miles to a weekend house of one of my work friends
(Marcelo) for a traditional Argentine Barbeque afternoon, with some other
friends. Like many people in BA Marcelo has an in town week place and then
his heart is really out in the country, in a safe lovely town, where we
found many families due to friendly , safe, atmosphere. The afternoon was
great fun for the boys to play around, and the barbeque and afternoon
reminded me of many afternoons I spent in South Africa, where the barbeque
is outside and we spend the afternoon drinking good wine. It was a lovely
way to feel apart of the Argentina daily life, and to after 6 months of
travel to feel very comfortable. On the way home we dropped back into the
Kids Museum as the boys wanted to re try some of the activities. It again
was great to see Sean working the dock crane and ship with 2 Spanish
speaking girls, he communicated with them with no language barrier, and they
loaded and unloaded the ship.
BA has been fun, tomorrow we return to Santiago.
