We lifted the anchor at 8 am and motored across the bay with Sunsation about 2 miles to Playa Panama which is a beach with some resorts 2 beaches up from Playa Coco the main port were the shops are. Coco has two main issues 1. It has a port Captain on the beach which we want to avoid 2. it gets the southerly swell and has a bad beach break.
So we anchored and took Sharon and Tracy ashore and they caught a 15 minute taxi into town. John went back to anchored boats and the boys and I played on the beach with the locals for 4 hours. It was good one on one time and big sand castles etc. The beach as a small restaurant just behind which has limited costly food and wireless which John used after been disconnected for 2 weeks. It is a nice fine sanded beach with white and black sand and very shallow we had to anchored about 1/4 of mile out but there are shoals of fish boiling the water around the boats. There were locals coming down to beach, sitting under the palm trees and having family barbeques they light up fires have boiling pots and have 20 + people in a gathering and seem to eat all day.

When the girls returned we lifted anchored and motored back to the other side of the bay as the anchorage is more isolated more beautiful and clear clear water with animals and birds. When I went to use the windless (used to wind up the anchor ) it started to stall and run into issues, so I had to do a combination of manual and auto to get the anchor up, this is real issue as we anchor a lot, and if the gears have an issue then I have an issue for the next 2 months. It is job I will have to dig into tomorrow but it has worked so well for so long.
But we were not the only ones with issues, as we pulled in an anchored Sunsation came round our stern and lost control, John struggled and regained but had a confused look on his face. After he had dropped anchor he dived and found that one of his propellers has spun off so it explained why he was getting no drive on one side. We tried to dive for the prop, but it was too late and deep we will have another try tomorrow, lucky he has 2 engines. If we don't find it he will have to go on one engine the rest of Costa Rica until Golfito where they fly back to US for xMAS and he can bring back some new props.
All in the excitement of a day cruising and how said crimsoning is a holiday, there are always things to do.
Wailele with Maggie and Bill on it pulled in today so there are now 3 of us in this wonderful little sub bay of the big bay, our own beach and howling monkeys making lots of noise from the trees on either side. They anchored half way near Cabo St Elena (they had calm weather) and tried to dive, but this morning at 5am they were blown out as the wind ramped up (as we had) and they pulled out and came in.
Tomorrow is a day of rest and repairs or investigations, and boys will finding monkeys.
