fishing pangas coming in after night out, We are on 12 day 12 night so 7am
is day break. In they roared onto the beach sliding like seals up the beach,
and the men jumping from the pangas, they had been out 8 + miles catching
tuna etc (we decided today to speak to them about where they getting them
and they stated anything within 8 miles of the coast you will not get much).
It was Saturday so people started to emerge on the beaches from us, and I
dinghied over to "Endurance" to ask their plans for the day. It became clear
yesterday that we had made a good move going into the marina as it was
basically the only place you could fuel up, so Matt (from Endurance) and I
decided to take his boat back up to the marina a 7 mile run up the coast,
and ladies plus kids would go to the beach. This would then leave Gijima and
Endurance ready for the next leg when ever we decided. Endurance is a 38
foot Morgan, sloop rig with and aft cockpit, and we motored up, their
windlass is manual and as we pulled up I appreciated our windlass which is
electric for the anchor. Matt and I surfed in on a smaller swell into the
marina and filled up, on returning we had a six pack and were able to sail a
little, getting back by 2 pm. The Families had played on the beach, they
have two girls and combine well with Sean and Alex, so they occupy each
other and give some change. We had them over for dinner which we had yellow
tail, and wine as the sun went down the lids playing below and lights of
Zihuatanejo growing behind us.
I dropped over to see a neighbors boat as nice steel sloop strong and well
designed , red in color, they are world cruisers home port "North Pole ,
Alaska".
It was one of those days I did not get ashore, yet was busy all day, and
interacting with fellow cruisers, planning the next leg and discussing the
one after which is the big one. We are ahead of time so we will decide
tomorrow if we leave Tracy is looking for a calm anchorage this one is a
bit rolly, and it wares on you. But weather is looking fine for the next
couple of days for the run to Acapulco which has a great harbor not sure of
it will be less rolly.
As I close up for the night, I see flashing lights where they played basket
ball last night suspect dancing, the sea is still crashing on the beach to
my right, and different music flows over the water from a lively night on
shore. I like this place it would be great if the bay was cleaner and less
rolly, but the atmosphere is fantastic.
