Hi Folks,
Well its official we have won the Hobbit, but
at what cost !
On the surface it was all about the Ozzies trying
to muscle in on the act, a joint
union thing, winding up the actors ... as we know a
few potential Hobbits in waiting
it was strange that none of them are in a union, it
seems that the fuss created by a
few union members gave the studio in that US
the excuse it neded to put the
screws on Sir PJ, as the Kiwi doller has been
climbing in value the original film butdget
has been decimated, its gone from 50 US cents to
the NZ$ to almost 80 US, that
why they couldnt wait to move the movie out, our PM
the whiley money broker cut
them off at the pass, gave them a bigger tax break
and changed the law relating to
the union / film studio relationship in employment
terms all in a weekend !
I think the thought of all the tourist Dollers
flowing off somewere else and the loss
of middle earth status was to much to bare .... its
somthing like a bilion plus dollars
of tourist income that was bothering them not the
ten mill they gave in tax breaks,
besides the have rebuilt the shires so all is well
with the world .
Summer is hear at last, thermals well and truly
cast aside. more outdoor activity,
and the big day of Two years in Kiwi land is nearly
upon us, lots of ups and downs
in the last year but things seem to have soughted
themselves out and we have a
clearer idea of what we want to do now, a break
back in old blighty shortly will be
great though, catching up with you all will be
great, the time has gone so quickly
it only seems like yesterday we were droping the
lines at Universal yard and
setting off into the sunset....
Hobits on the run ..... from the mighty US buck
