Hi Folks,

Well we departed from Opua on May the 26th bound for Auckland, Devonport to be precise to catch up with the crew of Seabright who are now land based, they have a beautiful flat overlooking the Hiraki Gulf, you know the one that the Americas cup was won and lost by NZ, anyway from there balcony you can see it all, its far enough away from Auckland and a very pleasant place to live, we recouped for a few days and enjoyed the delights of looking around for a home for Zephyr, the plan is to bring her down to this area  or maybe to Wellington, it turns out that its not, so we are looking now at Wellington which has a lift out and a good marina, the snag is the cruising grounds are over the Cook straight which can be a bit like the channel to cross, only twelve miles though, some vicious tide rip's , up to 9 knots in places between the islands so need to get up to speed with the tide flows in that area, after two years of "no tides" in general it will be a change to have to consider.
We had a bright idea the last day we were in Auckland, lets watch the Champion league foot final, trouble was it started a 6 o/c in the morning, we wondered what sought of sad idiots would pitch up to such an event, a who pub full it turns outs, it was full of phsudo Manchester United and Barcelona fans , queuing outside to get in, there were steaming hot bacon butties and beer, which we declined as we had to drive to Napier later in the day, anyway there was a good atmosphere and lots of beer and coffee was consumed, the Barcelona fans were ecstatic and the Mancs were very quite which made a change, it was all over by 8:30 and we trundled off to pack our bags and get on the road to Napier.
