Hi folks,
Well the big day has arrived , we depart Marina Rubicon about midday and head off towards a point between Furaventura and Grand Canary , we will then turn down towards the Cape Verdie Islands the distance is approx. 1100 miles , then turn due west towardsthe Caribbean .
The last few days have been hectic , checking all the gear out, last min repairs and setting the twin headsail rig , we went out on the 24th to anchor and cleaned the hull, it took all day as the marine growth down here is like concrete , its been blowing a hoolie for the last three days , I think it came with Roger,Diana, and Grahame !
Yesterday we tried out the down wind rig, it worked superbly , well done team , the crew has gelled well and the banter has begun , especially from our Australian guest Diana who has been nominated as the entertainment's officer already.
Strong winds were the name of the game but Zepher went down wind at a good 7.5 knots , we then beet back to windward to the marina , " small bump at the fuel berth ! strong winds , fuelled , and went to our night berth , a mad rush to get all the little jobs out the way, washdown, stow sail and repair fwd heads , myself and Roger were up to our armpits in Blakes Loo parts , whilst the girls repaired the ding to the front ,
Our daily reports and positions will start from tomorrow, and they will written by the forenoon watch so you wont have me rabiting on for twenty days or so.
