Hi Folks,
Well I guess you are all back at the grind stone up
there in the Northern Hem, down here spring is well and truly underway, the days
are getting longer and the frequency of sunshine hrs is increasing exponentially
.
On the work front the top flat is nearing
completion, Lyn is tiling the kitchen floor, I have moving all the
construction crap out of the lounge, and am now doing all the tidily bits,
curtain tracks, new handles, and light fittings, photos to follow of the before
and after in a few days.
The political fall out of the anti smacking law
which we had a referendum over was a win win win for the people power, the
government have yet to repeal the law, the turn out was 1.4 million, that's
halve of the eligible voters which included me , as a resident I'm entitled to
vote just eleven months after arrival !
More news on politics, just after the Uk had its
outing of the MP's on the fiddle with expenses it happened here, full lists
published of all MP's expense claims, the top ten of serial offenders
was published by the press, public uproar, the biggest
offender was the right wing minister of finance Mr
English, who was having a right old laugh, the PM has now capped all claimants
to a 37k a year, that's about 15 k in GBP
on there housing allowances, the fiddle had been that they were renting
out there properties once becoming MP's and buying another using there allowance
to pay the mortgage...a far cry from our old local MP a Mr Viggers who was
spending 30 K a year on his garden alone in good old Gosport town .. the
rat !
On the boating front, our friends who had a bad
experience whilst trying to cross the Tasmain sea and had to return to NZ have
finally made it, they arrived yesterday in Bundenburg, 20 days after leaving
Opua.
I have applied to join the coast guard,now that the
flats are nearly there, with that and a few other things it should plug the gap
of the idle hands thing, Lyn will be back at her easel, although she has been at
it in the evenings dobbing the paint on flat white canvases in a Rolf Harris
sort of way ...
