Hi Folks,

Well the big moment arrived, we said our fair wells to everybody at Pangaimoto Island yacht club and motored out of the islands of Tongatapu, , flat calm seas for the first two hrs then thunder and lightning and torrential rain followed by a whale sighting , the skies cleared and as the sun set we saw the green flash for the first time , yes it really does exist , darkness fell and we had a brilliant star lit night, so really we had the lot in 24 hrs, we have been motoring as there is very little wind but I am sure this will change the further we go south.
Thanks to everybody who sent us em prior to our departure from Tonga it was very touching for both Lyn and myself as you guys are so far away but still seem so close via the wonders of sat phones and em.
Trevor has settled in well , don't worry Sonja he is in good hands , we oiled him up and put him on slow cook in this tropical oven , he is now a pretty shade of pink , but the should brown off shortly , thanks for your weather grams its been a great help.
On the weather prediction front just before we left our American friends held a skippers weather conference ! they fell out after reading all the conflicting weather reports, us Brits just ignored it as shit weather comes with this package whatever way you look at it, so some were along this route the winds will exceed 30 knts and they cant forecast that one away , although if you are careful and use three different sources you can get to NZ without bad weather !
Of  more interest to us was the US elections held on the day we left ,who won anybody out there with info .....
I had the first shot at chef yesterday , and yes Nigela you would have been proud of me , chilli concarn with a sting in the tail ..

All's well onboard from a happy crew now putting there toilet rolls in the freezer ...
