Hi Folks,

Today we walked from Cooks bay were we are anchored to Opunohu bay through the central part of Moorea, which is in fact the floor of the volcano , very lush and green and covered in cows grazing on the cud.
After this we walked around the head of the bay back to Cooks bay , we were looking for a place to eat or at least have a drink but it seems that all the small hostelries are closed along with the hotels either we are out of season or there is a large over supply of  accommodation !
Fifteen kilometres later we arrived back at the boat landing, it had been four hours since we had left the kick off point ,although we had taken drink we were starving and could have eaten a scabby dog between two bread vans which brings me to the next subject.
An interesting fact emerged whilst in the Society Islands, the locals like to "Wok there dogs" apparently this occurs during the festive season of Bastille fortnight , not a place to be wandering about without a lead ! apparently the French authorities give a dispensations to those who fancy the Woking process, don't think they did much business on the last one as there seems to be plenty of our four legged friends wandering about  still  ...
Incidentally I had a chilli hot dog today and it didn't taste a bit like dog ...
We have hired a car for tomorrow for a trip around the island and to see all the high lights, lots of Kodak moments coming up , I hope my video camera holds out as its been playing up and after getting very frustrated I bounced it of a rock and hay presto it now works again .. electronics and too many moving parts don't go to make a happy visual recording unit ...

A Dog tired crew !
