Hi Folks,

Up at 7o/c and off ashore to pick the hire jeep up , then a mad dash to the village to post cards, go to bank and inform the immigration we are departing tomorrow , then hastily read the map and set off on our epic journey to the tikkas , we had proper road for about 20 km then it was all dirt track, up and down the volcanic hills , its just like the alps very windy and steep, the little jeep handled it fine and we didn't need an internal back support when we got to the other end , it turns out that the tikkis aren't the size of the ones on Easter Isle , but very much smaller , the area was very remote from the rest of the island , with small hamlets of a few houses on the coast , don't know what they do for a living but they all have nice new 4 wheel drives ...
Once we had done the site seeing bit we meandered our way back stopping at a small farm to buy some fresh fruit , a whole hand of bananas , 10 large grapefruit type things which are much sweeter and taste delicious plus some smoked dried bananas which also taste very good, the whole lot came to less than we would have paid in the supermarket so we were pleased and so was the farmer ..
Back on the road again to the main village at the anchorage , get stores required before we sail tomorrow ( only 10 nm ) and off to the bar to practice our beer ordering in French ! worked really well and after a few beers we went back to the jetty ,loaded the boat and all went back , loading the gear up onto the boat was fun in the swell but all arrived safely, we are now sat in the cockpit under the moonlight , its a full one here supping more beer .. a question for you all , we have a full moon here what do you have in the UK at the moment , we were guessing at no moon .. !

A road weary boat crew ..
