Hi All,
It seems we have been at sea for 7 days and is
the longest single passage any of us have done. I'm looking forward
to the celebrations when we get to Martinique.
Well what have we all been up to, firstly we have
another job for Diana namely Flight Deck Officer Night Operations.
Last night Di successfully landed a flying fish on the afterdeck, an hard
landing but quite good for her first time. Di has just finished a very
tough day as mother where working in the galley is very difficult with 8-10ft
swell rolling the boat very badly at times. Skipper 2 (he has been
demoted) didn't fit a bum strap facility so we have an interim solution where
we fit a rubber tube around Di and inflate to provide a padded
bumper. Imagine how this works; think of a pin ball machine, there is Di
going pin ding dong down the galley, collecting dishes on the way, until one of
us bats her back to the other end again. The process is then
repeated. The end result is one very
black and bruised Di and a well fed crew. It's Greame's turn
today!
Progress is good, our position is 18N 30W with a
course of 260M. We would like to make more south but swell and wind
conditions dictate more bias to the west for crew comfort. We are expecting
Easterly winds of about 15kts for the next 2 days then 20-25knts for the
following 2 days. We should easily see 200NM with these
conditions.
Thanks go to Margaret for information on the
position of the ARC fleet, skipper 2 is very pleased with himself since we've
passed some already.
Belatedly I've been awarded another promotion, in
recognition of my efforts, above and beyond the call of duty, for clearing the
blocked up forward head which now works perfectly. I'm now Sanitary
technician. ----------- I wonder if this is a promotion.
I'm going on strike.
Bye for now.
Roger
