Noah's Progress : Cactus Culture

A strange title indeed but this is the conclusion we came to after a week touring around the Island of Lanzarotie , its a good job the tourist pitched up here in the last 30 years otherwise instead of dinning on steak it would have been a lightly fried cactus followed by a prickly pair with a shot of Tequila , for anybody who has been here you will know were I am coming from , for those who haven't just imagine the moon its just like that a rather barren rock strewn desert with tourist villages strewn across the land surrounded by cactus and the occasional wilting vine, these buildings are all white in constructions and look as if they have been taken off the film sets of Star Wars , which brings me to another subject of the Dark Lords visit , most of you don't know Phil ( AKA the Dark Lord) aptly named after he walked into a BUPA hospital for a cataract operation , when asked for his religion said " Jedi Knight " hence the nick name .he is also a long suffering work college and friend who has had to put up with my machinations whilst constructing the boat he has the IQ of Einstein and the directional sense of lemming ( you know its true Phil) thank god his other half the long suffering Elsie has a very good sense of direction.
Phil's challenge was to find his way to a castle at Tisa near Uga , we had past it twice in the week and thought that as the island was only 90 km be 40km we were in with a better chance than his last attempt in France to find us from St Marlo , sorry to say he failed but we had a great laugh as passengers we sighted the castle but still took three hrs a bar stop for light refreshment and a large hint at the final Y junction to get there . A great week was had by all , Phil found his way back to the airport thanks to Elsie, hope the knee gets better soon .

After our tourist week we set about readying the boat for the trip across the Atlantic , all the manual jobs went well , the new AIS receiver problem , the new software for the weather fax problem , and that just about sums up the electronics front much twoing and frowing with suppliers to sought them out.
We went to the capital Araccife were the large food stores are to get all the main supplies for the trip the list was endless 300 kilos of food later we were nearly complete , Lyn cooked a load of ready meals for the trip god bless her cotton socks , a few days in the galley consumed three bags of potatoes, 8 kilo of meat , a case of beans, and tomato's , much seasoning and the catering skills of Jamie Oliver to boot .
So now all we are waiting for is the crew to turn up which will be next week the European leg over and the trans Atlantic to begin, we plan to depart on the 25th of November , our position will be posted every day with a message from our sponsors every day of life on the ARK with Chris, Lyn, Roger,Graham and Diana !

All cooked out Noah's
