Hi Folks,

After the demolition of the two bathrooms in the flats and transferring all the debris down the 39 steps my fetlocks are getting bigger, now its the turn of all the timber and plaster board to be humped back up there, my once tidy garage has become a dump full of the rubbish that will eventually be dumped in a skip, I'm holding off ordering that until we lift the minging carpet, the bathrooms both had long term leaks in there plumbing, this in  turn rotted the timbers out that supported the shower and bath areas, fortunately it now is all festering in the garage, and the areas in question are clean and tidy and ready for there new Aqua gib , a water resistant plasterboard along with new fixtures and fittings , all water tight, after having all the hi-tec plumbing gear in the UK it is a bit of a culture stock not to have any push fit fittings, its either a crimped system or good old fashioned solder, I'm using solder as I have plenty of copper pipe spare from the last project at Gail's house.
I must say that these timber houses are great to work on, there are build from a local wood called Remu, its a semi hard wood and as good as the day they put it up , in 1940, the rotten bits turned out to be Billy bodgits attempts to fit showers in the 70's pity they didn't use a spanner to tighten up the unions on the pipe work, the previous tenant was a short spark from her pine box, as whilst in the demolishing phase I discovered that they had set the 30 amp power switch at floor level it was nesting in the rotting soaking timber and plaster board and conveniently next to the stainless shower tray, Oh and the wires were bare where they had decayed away, they had used the old rubber type wiring which breaks down after umpteen years, so it was probably a life saver when she got her notice to quit .
We are all going to the polls in August as the " shall I smack or shant I smack " referendum is due to be held, having been here now for more than six months I am entitled to vote as a resident, democracy here tends to work on subjects that have controversy, they don't leave it to the poltions if over a certain number of citizens want it put to the people it happens ... wonder how that one would go down in blighty !
Swine flu fever is all the rage here, well for the few that have been diagnosed with it, they have had an about turn on shutting work places down and are letting it take its natural course now, personally I think if you get it you should don the ears and go round going oink oink ! as a waning to others that you are infected .
Not much else to report, we are having our half crimbo soon as we have reached the longest day so it all up hill to the summer now ! apparently it a European thing, it cold so lets have a roast and a piss up inside, sounds logical to me Dr Spock .
News from Wellywood is that the the Hobbit is to be filmed here, the director looks very similar to one as well, somebody called De torie I think .

Well I'm off to try my extras furry feet on
