Well spring is truly here as the last two weekends
have been crackers, the shorts came out on Sunday and the legs were exposed for
the first time this year, with the clocks going back shortly we will have longer
evenings, its light by six am now and dark at seven pm .
Lyn arting has taken apace and she is
producing her exhibition stuff for the Academy so it looks like a summer of art
with wine I hope , she is always looking at the plants growing here and marvels
that all here indoor ones that she had seem to grow here outside all year long
as weeds ! I'm not a plantie I don't understand !
On the building front the top flat is
complete internally, I have one external job to do this week and then it will be
on the market, the lower one is well on the way but we have a lot of dentist ,
doctor and car maintenance things to do this week so its going to be a bit of a
slow one on the work front at the flats .
We have started planning for the summer
cruising, we plan to explore the bay of I islands and the surrounding coast,
once that's complete we have decided to bring Zephyr down south to Wellington,
last year we looked at the three possibilities around here and the only one that
looks any good is a marina at Seaview. its about twenty mins drive from here and
is best suited for Zephyr, the problem is that there aren't many berths for here
size about, six in total in a 300 berth marina !
The other two marinas , one in the centre of
the city, which has limited berths and is very tightly packed, no manoverability
in and around the berths, its bow thrusters city, isn't for me, and the second
one at Plimerton, which is a lovely setting , its on the other coast about 30
mins drive, it has great access to Malbourgh sound, a shorter route than from
Wellington, the only snag is a sand bar which is about 1.5 metre I think so
there's no chance of getting over that one! the bonus of being in Seaview
will be the all weather sailing in Wellington harbour i with its bays and
protected area, its a bit like the Solent really ... that its all weather
sailing be it in an area of six by seven miles with a lot of
interesting bays to yet be sampled, the bonus is that the harbour is 18m deep
more or less through out it area shelving up to 4 metres in the bay areas.
That's all for now folks ... pic will be the next
