Subject: Sunny days are here again Hi Folks,
It was the last day of Gail,Devyn,Morvan,Doug,Gena
"Ballerina"Culum and Katie's stay at hotel Paridiso , we have
been grateful because we could obtain water and 10 min hot showers from
there facilities, at only a dingy ride away , the other bonus was the happy hr ,
free beer between 17:30 and 18:30 but I think they twigged it as on the last
night we could only get four beers four our round instead of the usual seven ,
anyway we had planned a trip to Port Morell , the alleged bay the guy who
discovered Tonga landed at in the 1750's also know as anchorage no 7, the
Moorings charter company have written a very useful book , names which know one
can pronounce so it a numbered system for all us white folk ..
We set off at 8:30 , and guess what it rained
all the way down to the anchorage which was approx 7 miles away , when we
arrived it was down with the hook, up with the spray hood, out with the TV
screen , the kids all watched "Pirates of the Caribbean" and I attempted to
regain my honour at Gin Rummy .. to no avail as Morvan wiped the floor with us
all .
At 1:30 the skys cleared and it was time to
launch the Z boat, we ferried everybody ashore to a great little beech
with coral outcrops all around , a few other of the cruising boats we know
were moored up , Mike "Summer Wine" was already on the beech, his two boys
Lorrie and Finn have all the toys , canoe , windsurfers ect , so Doug did
the trips around the bay in the canoe and everybody else swam and snorkelled in
the bay , it was an Idyllic end to the day,
At 1600 we left to get back to our
mooring in Neifu bay, there are so many boats now arriving from the Cook
Islands that possession of the buoy is nine tenths of the law , we had left a
marker on ours , the holding is not good here so one is essential for a good
nights sleep, on arrival we were presently surprised to find it unoccupied
so manovered straight in and tied up .
The weather was still holding out so it was
cushions out into the cockpit, Ikeale(beer) to hand to wash down "Nanny Lyn's"
pasta bake, music on, and a good evening had by all to round of the best day we
have had for weather in a few weeks, sad also as all the guys were off at the
crack of sparrows to ZN the next morning .. were as we were still snuggled up in
our pits !
The drowsy crew
