Hi All,
Yesterday after Rob returned from his near miss
with the jaws of death,ala rottweiler breakfast fun run by , we got our
snorkelling kit together and went off to one of the reefs near by for some
aquatic tourism, wonderful fish filled reefs and undulating coral outcrops, that
was until the local boats arrived with some very white tourists and turned it
into a seal colony, I nearly sat on the reefs edge started barking and
opened a tin of sardines !
After the masses had passed by we enjoyed the
rest of the reefs wonders , Lyn took some bread and attracted even moor fish,
our Austrian friends bought there underwater camera so there will be shots of
fishes soon .
We then went back to Zephyr and had lunch,
Rhythm made her way around to this anchorage from coral creak were we spent the
first night and anchored in front of us for the night.
A trip to the main Village of Bora Bora in
the afternoon was a must as I had double booked our social calendar so we had
Rhythm and Slipnier over for beer and nibbles, great evening lots of gos about
an American boat that had been robbed the previous evening, all there
Passports , credit cards, and two laptops were taken whilst they were
ashore, not a very pleasant thing to have happen to you in this part of the
world as embassy's are hard to come by. quite what they will do I don't
know as Tahiti is probably the nearest place to get this sort of thing sorted
out .
Today we got up rather later than usual, didn't
finish till gone midnight last night, downloaded the weather,still not looking
to good out there, high winds due Monday in this area and lots of boats have
postponed there departure for the cooks and Tonga until after this passes, its
due to blow its self out by the end of next week, but I think some of them are
out of visa time and keen to get away, on the local SSB net which we listen into
, called the ANZAC net were information is exchanged between boats we learnt of
six yachts at Palmerston Atoll some 700 miles to the west of us who were trapped
inside the reef with one of them washed up on the reef and even worse weather
expected , 10 to 11 metre seas outside the reef which is pretty bum puckering to
say the least when your in the middle of know were, will keep you posted , we
are staying tucked up here till it all passes ..
