Hi Folks,

Departed Tahuata island after a morning of "exploring in our Shorts" ! it all started off as a jolly jape clambering across the volcanic rocks to the blow holes in the cliff face , good photo shots , then a climb up the rocks to overlook the bay , back to the beach waited for the surf to abate , chose the wrong moment when a double wave leapt up and put the Z boat on its end , that's the thing here all these great beaches have a 3 to 4 ft surf ride into them , anyway we were all right but our trusty 2.2 Merc snapped the shaft in two , we landed heavily on the beach with the full weight of the boat plus us = some 400 kilo or so , I'm not surprised it snapped , it was out with the oars , Rob in the meanwhile had found the broken shaft , we launched again and got it right , that's the sixth landing on that beach !
Rowed out to the boat looking a sorry state with the poor old outboard in bits , nevermind if I can find an old one I can use the bottom end to change it over as the power head is in good order .
We departed to our current location at 1330 LT , it took 3 hrs to travel the 12 nm lack of wind for the last 6nm then into a bay with sheer cliffs all around , down hook , dig in and then heads down into tuna pasta bake .. yum  yum , all washed down with a few glasses of Panama , yes we are down to the last case ....
