Calm Anchorage at last ..

Hi Folks ,

Well as you can see by our position we have Moved from the island of Hiva Oh eight miles away to Tahuata and tucked ourselves up in a little bay alongside Rhythm, stunning backdrop to the anchorage and just enough room to fit two boats in , its calm the first time we have been on a relatively flat surface since Portobello in Panama .

Last night we all went ashore , a bit of a surf into the beech as a swell still builds up as the beech shelves up , so the procedure is rather Commando style , head into the beech at full chat , two at the front over the side when we make contact with the sand grab the boat hand rails and run up the beach on the rising wave , if you get it wrong the boat turns side ways and the surf swamps the boat , anyway we had a successful landing .. gathered sticks and branches of dried wood , dug a pit in the sand and fired up the barbi pit .
Watched a beautiful sun set behind the two boats, taking lots of photos as these opportunities don't come along that often , by then it was time to put the skuard fish we had caught onto the coals and drink wine as the sun set , we also built a larger fire for light and to keep the nibbling little nasties away , the smoke and the liberal splashing of insect repellent did the trick.

Local fisherman glided by in there dugout canoes with outriggers , traditional South seas design , as the sun disappeared and that really was the icing on the cake as far as the day was concerned .

We then loaded up the boat and brave the surf to get back to the boats , a great time was had buy all , and it didn't take many mins to get to sleep !

A becalmed happy crew
