Well… We have heard about it, but to experience the Grenadines is a must.  We can easily say this is better cruising grounds than the BVI’s, and that’s saying something.

A few days in Clifton Harbour and the area proved to be a lot of fun.  The highlight was having a few drinks at Happy Island in the harbour.  Happy Island (http://www.uncommoncaribbean.com/2011/06/17/on-site-in-the-grenadines-getting-happy-on-happy-island/)  was at first a pile of conch shells that a wacky few decided to make a bar out of.  10 years later its has added concrete, a kitchen and a full bar area… amazing place and boasts that it is the …. 1.  Smallest inhabited Island in the world, 2.  The smallest all green island in the world, and about a handful of other facts that at this time I can’t recall….. but what a place, and so much character.  A real laugh and you will see a few photos a little later.

From Clifton we sailed to the Tobago Cays in search of the famed turtle sanctuary.  At first it seemed a tourist trap, but this surprisingly small area was a host to many turtles that were easy to see by snorkeling alone.  Shared the anchorage with heaps of other yachts but would not have missed it for the world.  That night the wind picked up and Eleanor was treated to a night of anchor dragging, alarms, squalls and us eventually moving the yacht for shelter… aaaaah, cruising… ;)

Next its off to Bequia, but that’s another entry…….
