Driving in the Dominican Republic is probably the most dangerous thing you can do as a cruiser.

Traffic rules are hardly respected and some drivers drive like Kamikaze pilots. Driving in the dark is even worse, since several cars and even more motorcycles drive without lights. Among the ones who have lights, full light is often constantly on.

Although not having any accident our selves, we saw several accidents along the roads , and one major involving several cars and severe injuries. The trauma surgeons on the island must have lot’s of work and driving on the island is probably the most risky business any cruiser will be exposed to cruising the Dominican Republic.
