We are making great progress. It was blowing like billyHo yesterday when we set off. With around 25 knots in the gusts, even inside the marina, we had quite a struggle getting onto the fuel and reception pontoon. Out at sea we found more of the same with quite a gusty wind, sometimes up to 27k but averaging around 20 (top of Force5). The sea was to match and although neither of us was ill, we were both a bit below par. We have been making great progress though, mostly exceeding 7 knots and are on track to achieve a 7k average over the first 24 hours - all with standard sails, not using the spinnaker or reaching sail.

Emily is a passionate gardener and was reflecting that one of life’s challenges is that May and June are the best months for sailing and gardening. So I tackled this by getting some herbs in pots -parsley and basil. We had torn basil on our tomatoes at lunch yesterday and fresh chopped parsley on the carrots last night. Emily’s task today is to get out and do some weeding!!

We had a fairly quiet night. The wind has dropped a bit and we may want more sail later but all is well at the moment. It keeps showering though so a bit more sunshine is on the list, we hope.

Love from us both
