This has been a tough day. During the night, the full gale that I have already described. Today has, apart from a brief spell this morning continued at Force 6/7. At times bright and very clear, then with little warning it is very damp and overcast and another squall comes through. The seas have not flattened at all and although they do not have the spike flying off them now, the waves are huge, some breaking. When we crash off a wave, the whole boat judders. It is only just now under 200 miles to my way point, which I had expected to achieve in the night., so progress is very slow.

I have tried various combinations of more or less of each sail. Each combination seems better for a while. For the last few hours I have rolled up the genoa completely and am motor sailing. At least that is roughly in the right direction and it is charging the battery which was becoming a problem without the generator.

I have just spend 15 mins mopping out the fridge. At some stage we must have been so far heels over that the port galley sink filled up with water which it then deposited , unseen until now in the top opening fridge.

Morale is ok so don't worry about me. I realise I am getting tired though - can't be bothered to do any veg with supper....

The barometer seems to have stopped falling and possibly started to rise so surely this must improve soon....
