Good morning. It’s Sunday so you might expect the crew would have a bit of down time, but with the exemplary service you get 24/7 on yacht Pemandia, all is as normal. Crew were to be found at several times during last night, looking out for ships, making changes to sail trim and at one point gybing. I crossed the main N/S shipping lane early yesterday evening and am now closer to the coast. Still over 30 miles away but perhaps because of the closeness, or maybe because I have come over the continental shelf(where the water quite suddenly shallows from over 2000m to around 150m) or maybe because the weather has changed, the motion is different and the seas a bit lumper than before. The wind has been behind me all the way so easy to forget that it is Force 6. When I was near a N bound huge tanker yesterday I was amazed at the amount of spray it was throwing up. Glad I am going South (at the moment).

It is now just over 105 miles to my waypoint just off Lisbon. So assuming I keep this pace up I will arrive in Cascais sometime during the night. I would not mind if I slow down and get there in daylight which would be much easier. I have just been looking at charts and the pilot book to investigate an anchorage for a few hours. There are some intriguing looking islands Ilha de Berlenga that look fun. But described as a fair weather anchorage to be approached in daylight. Shame.
