As so often, the last leg of our passage seemed to take forever. I had foolishly suggested that we might get back to Plymouth by 0200 on Monday but actually it was late morning. At the confluence of shipping lanes S of the Scillies we met a plethora of ships with a few fishing boats to complete the party, We got clear of them and thought "not long 'til the Lizard" but it was 0400 when we did. We welcomed the much earlier arrival of dawn as we came both E and N. The forecast was for SW 5-6 perhaps 7 but we found barely more thanF2 and so motored for a while. Only after the rain had given us a good soaking did the wind increase and it might have been uncomfortable if we had been much later. We were fortified against the rain by a healthy bowl of Judy's porridge.

At 1130 we approached our familiar berth in Mayflower Marina. Emily was there to take our lines and welcome us as was Tony Saunders the Harbourmaster at Mayflower. It is the sort of thing the Mayflower team do to make us feel so welcome there. Quickly tied up, we were soon ashore in Jolly Jacks for Champagne and lunch.

1394 miles on the log in 10 days and 2 hours or just over 5 knots average. Some 3000 miles since I left Plymouth in May. What a cruise! Not without its problems and frustrations but very very satisfying. It has given me confidence in my recovery and my ability to undertake but more important to enjoy this sort of cruising.

I have previously described Malcolm and Judy as not real sailors, but the sort of people you want on board. This status is now formally withdrawn. They are a serious asset and excellent crew. There is still not a single yacht of our size that I would have rather been on than our lovely Pemandia. She, Emily and our fellow crew members  - Susanna, Malcolm and Judy - have looked after me well. Thank you.
