Hi Everyone at home,
Hope all is well, We and a very horrible trip from Fiji to Vanuatu, when we arrived we had to stay on the boat for 2 days, as it was Sunday then independence day so customs weren't open, when we got ashore, all the lady’s were in bright coloured dresses, it looked like one pattern and they colour them themselves, we took a bus to the waterfall, it was the loveliest we have have seen so far, you had to walk through it up the hill to find it, on the way we past the villages and they are so poor it makes you want to cry, they all grow lots of fruit and veg so they have something to sell.
We have sailed around the island so we could snorkel, but it has rained so hard we couldn’t, also couldn’t sail back to harbour, as you couldn’t see where you were
going, we tried and had to go back.
So we got on with a few jobs, and were so pleased with our new canopy's & side windows, (we had them made in Fiji) as we didn’t get so wet, there worth every penny.
We brought some fruit & veg from men and ladies that canoed out to us, (in the pouring rain) the canoes were a whole tree hollowed out that the had made themselves, at night time there was a whole line of canoes stacked high with fruit and veg, rowing across to the island opposite, going home, it was pouring of rain and I felt really bad as I watched them under our new canopy, we really don’t have anything to moan about do we!
We went back to harbour to clear customs and a bit of shopping.
Then it’s off to Australia, When we leave here it will take about 10 days and about 1,300 miles
We have seen some funny old things, men dressed as lady’s and lady’s with beards & hairy chests, I don’t feel so bad about not having time to shaved my legs now!
Bye for now, Love Margaret & Alan in the Pacific Ocean on Ocean Lady xxxxx
