Hi Everyone,
We have gone to anchor in a quite corner of the bay, and started the big clean up, and put all the wet! weather gear out (& there was lots) got in the dingy to go to the bank to get money to pay customs, the 1st sight we saw was a pig strolling down the road munching on grass at the edge of peoples gardens, most of the men wear black rap a round skirts and the ladies had the same but had woven matting tied around their middle, so all very different.
It was lovely to be woken up by birds singing, we have hardly seen birds at all for a long time, only one or two, I asked a man in Nuie why and he said when the cyclone came it blow them all away, they where found in China dead (poor things) and the only ones left are the few survivors.
The BBQ we had in Nuie was steak, the pigs where for Saturday when they have a once a year, a ceremony in the town square of, ear piercing for girls & hair cutting for boys, same we could not stay to see it but had to get going before the weather got worse & what we had was bad enough.
The monsoon rain that we had yesterday has hopefully washed all the salt off the oily’s fingers crossed it doesn’t rain again so we can dry them out.
Hope all is well, lots of love Mum & Dad – Margaret & Alan xxxx
