Hi
Although the weather was over cast we had a very nice time in Rodrigues it
is a Multi-cultural, they speak French, English & Creole and their own if
foreign.
The first night we went out for dinner in the only place that was open, they
were very nice and we asked the waiter if there was a laundry he said no!
his
sister piped up, ring mum, so before we left it was agreed that their mum
would
do our washing.
We hired a car to look around the island, they live simple lives but are
happy!
We found a place where there was Giant Tortoises, they were the happiest
we have come across so far, they put there chins out for us to stroke and
they smiled and when you walked away they followed us, they had very
pretty markings on there shell, they had a whole ravine to live in so plenty
of room to roam.
Also there where caves and we got to tour around them, very pretty and very
cool.
On our next visit to the little bar, the waiter said his Mum (Sylvette)
would like us
to visit them, so we went as we didn't want to upset them and also wanted
our washing back.
Sylvette grew lots of vegetables so she could sell them at the market, she
took us to her plot and asked us to choose, so we came away with
beetroot, tomatoes Cauliflower,Carrots,Peppers, We paid her as we didn't
want her to loose out at the Market, She then took us to the sitting room,
we seemed to be the only building the rest were just huts.
They split coconuts and gave them to us to eat and the liquid to drink, it
was very sickly but we just smiled and drank it.
To be continued.............
