Grey.Gray.Gray.then OMYGOD ICEBERGS

Brrrr, it's chilly now!

 

 

Blue watch was getting a bit boring on the approach to the Southern tip of Greenland.  Gray seas, gray skys – just some strong winds and swell to liven things up.  Then things started changing.  The waves started subsiding, the sea temperature started falling, the air got much colder, and the sea took on an oily appearance.  Then suddenly…”Iceberg port quarter”…..followed by “Iceberg starboard”.  Before long we seemed to be surrounded by them.  Then “land - dead ahead”.  We had finally spotted Greenland.
